If you passed the International Baccalaureate or European Baccalaureate exams, you may freely apply for undergraduate studies at a Greek university.

However, if you only have an equivalent qualification from your home country, you will need to have it legally recognized at the appropriate institutions. This means certifying that your diploma is in accordance with the law of the country in which it was issued.

Additionally, if you wish to be accepted for postgraduate studies in Greece, you will need to present an undergraduate diploma from a Greek institution or an overseas equivalent.

Visa Requirements & Documents

Original passport that is valid beyond 6 months stay in Greece. There should be at least 2 blank passport pages available for the Greek student visa

Fill out the Greek visa application form

One recent, identical, 2 x 2 passport photograph, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.

Acceptance letter of the institution where you will be studying certified by the prefectorial office.

The Consulate requires applicants to make a personal appearance to apply for this visa. These instructions are provided as a guide to help with this process. We recommend that you contact your nearest Consulate directly to confirm requirements and make an appointment to apply in person.

Visa Processing Time

When consulates require an appointment, this may need to be scheduled as much as 4 to 6 weeks in advance because appointment times are limited and fill quickly. After the appointment, the visa processing time may take an additional 1 to 4 weeks. Therefore, it could take as long as an approximate 8 to 9 weeks from the time the student sends a request to Travisa, to when they receive the passport and visa back from the consulate.

Health Insurance Requirement

International students who study in Greece will need to obtain a doctor’s certificate confirming that they can freely undertake study in the field of their choice. You will also need to be insured for the duration of your stay in Greece.
