Liepaja University is an accredited state higher educational establishment, which implements study programmes at all three study levels: basic studies, Master and Doctorate studies.
Every year, about 30 study programmes are implemented and we have produced more than 20 thousand graduates.

Language of Teaching
Majority of the courses are taught in good English. Any courses taught in any language apart from English are marked on the degree programs or tuition fees tabs. Languages on the street are mainly English.

.Non-English speaking international students will need to submit Three (3) copies Certified True Copy of English Language Proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS or its equivalent any of these – SAT, GRE, IGCSE PTE).
Cost of Housing
The Average cost of living in Liepaja ranges from €345-€400 per month.
Rent is 36 EUR per month for a room (if in the room live 2 and more persons),
50 EUR (2 persons) and 90 EUR (1 person).
Private housing range from EUR 145 – 290 per month.
Liepaja University offers to international students live in the Student Hostel. Due to high demand, students should give the Foreign Affairs Department ample notice of their intention to live in student dormitories. International students are usually housed in shared rooms (2-3 persons) with a common kitchen, shower and toilets. Linen, blankets, pillows, and kitchen utensils are provided.
Liepaja University Student Hostels’ rooms are furnished, a fridge is in each room, Free Wifi and a laundry.
If student do not wish to stay at a dormitory, private housing arrangements should be made before arriving in Latvia.
Travel with Visa — If you are a non-Latvian citizen, you will need to obtain a visa at a consulate in your home country before your arrival in Latvia. Once you have arrived in Latvia, you will need to apply and obtain a residence permit before your visa expires in order to prolong your stay.
Education Requirements for Student Visa
Student visa to come study in Latvia is easy to obtain. You apply for student visa from the closest embassy to you.
Once you have your admission letter
confirmation letter from university (proof of payment of first tuition fees)
and has provided documents requested the embassy.
There is no reason to reject your student visa application. In all our dealings, our students have never been rejected visa. But we have heard of a few students (not our own) who were rejected because they didn’t get the documents needed. But when they reapplied, it was granted them.
Visa Requirements & Documents
All documents executed in a foreign language (except English) shall be accompanied their translation into English. Translation of all documents must be notarized.
In order to apply for a student visa to study in Latvia you will need to submit several documents. These documents include:
legalized certificate of the secondary education with a transcipt and/or a certificate of higher level education with a transcript;
a copy of passport (all pages);
photo cards (3×4 cm);
a document on the change of a given name and surname (if necessary);
a payment document certifying that the registration fee is paid in the amount of 150,- euro* to the account of LiepU (registration fee is not refunded).

International students will need to obtain a doctor’s certificate confirming that they can freely undertake study in the field of their choice.
You will also need to be insured for the duration of your stay in Latvia; this is part of your tuition fees.
